Today they bused us to the top of Mt. Ben-Tal. At the top of this mountain are fortifications against foreign invasion. Although the mountain we were on was demilitarized, there is still an active military base on a nearby peak. Standing at the top of the mountain, you can see into Lebanon and Syria. It is surprising that there are no visible fences or walls on these borders, given the relations between Isreal and these countries. Although it was not mentioned, one does wonder what kind of military value the area had in ancient times.
