N'Awlins 2018! Day 6
Updated: May 23, 2018
Even though we didn’t do any service work today, I think it was our busiest time here. We had a thorough discussion this morning regarding our trip and what it helped us to learn. I spoke about how it’s motivated me to use my housing studies major to help make a difference in lower income housing communities when I graduate. Many of us had learned a lot about the issues of systemic housing discrimination when we spoke to a housing law professional yesterday.
After some intense packing and cleaning, we went to the French quarter to get some food before the St. Joseph’s day parade. We were expecting the St. Patrick’s day parade, but this one was still a lot of fun! We did some shopping today too. I’ve managed to collect a few boutique gifts for my mom back home. After the parade, I ate dinner and finally came back. I was exhausted. But it was great to finally have some time to unwind and reflect. This trip will definitely be remembered for a long time.
