As I reflect on our first day, I am so excited for what the rest of the week will hold! Even though I experienced this trip last spring break in 2017, I know I will make even more friendships and memories the second time around!
Our first day officially started when we arrived at our work site and met the staff members we’d be working with from Rebuilding Toget
her. I really enjoyed meeting these super passionate people while also becoming more acquainted with the participants in my group as well. I was very eager to get working on the house as soon as we got there, which wasn’t the least bit difficult with the sun shining, music playing, and being surrounded by wonderful new friends. Though it was a long day, the work flew by and I felt very optimistic about the progress we would continue to make on the house throughout the week.
After departing the work site, I was so grateful for the amazing jambalaya United Saints served us for dinner. It was great seeing some of the staff I remembered from last year too. I also loved going on the ghost tour through the French Quarter again, and loved re-hearing the stories and legends from our very animated and talented tour guide. All in all, I am so happy to be back in New Orleans for my last spring break and couldn’t have asked for a better start to the week!
